Bacteria are everywhere in our house and living environment. Gastroenteritis infectious diseases are one of the common diseases caused by these bacteria. The Statistics show that there are over 76 million people who are sick because of Campylobacter, Escherichia Coli and Salmonella bacteria in the United States. Proper and regular kitchen cleaning is your first barrier to these infectious diseases.
The first spot of cleaning in your kitchen is the sink. The amount of bacteria accumulated on the surface of a sink is 100 thousand times more than that on the surface of a bathtub. Therefore, it should be thoroughly cleaned once to twice a week. The most effective way of cleaning is the use of diluted bleach.
The second spot of cleaning is the kitchen countertop. Kitchen countertop is a place where both raw and cooked foods are possible to get in touch with. Therefore, it is exceptionally important to wipe clean the countertop with detergent every time after use. In addition, you may also use diluted bleach to clean it once a week.
Refrigerator is the third spot of cleaning. Though the low temperature of the refrigerator help inactivate the activities of bacteria, it is still important to keep bacteria away from the food stored in it. You should wipe clean the refrigerator monthly with the mixture of baking soda and water. Besides, you should avoid putting hot foods into the refrigerator because the heat will facilitate the growth of bacteria.
Microwave oven is the next spot to clean. The microwave emitted from the microwave oven may not be effective in killing bacteria; therefore, proper cleaning procedure is required. You may fill a microwave-safe bowl with equal portions of vinegar and water. Then microwave the mixture for 2 minutes. Finally, wipe clean the microwave oven with a sponge and the vinegar and water solution.
Oven is the last spot of cleaning after the microwave oven. You may use soapy water to soak and clean the racks. For the inside of the oven, spray it with oven cleaner after a pre-heat at 200 degrees. Then wipe clean after 10 minutes. You may wipe clean your oven with mixture of baking soda and water as well.
